(HSC -023) Face to face classroom training

Overview

This challenging behaviour training course will deliver an introduction to challenging behaviour, which explores the reasons why people behave in certain ways, the types of behaviour and methods of diffusing and de-escalating aggressive incidents. The challenging behaviour training course promotes a non-aversive approach and respectful intervention when people are distressed. The course is a mix of classroom theory, open discussions and practical techniques.

Target Learners

This challenging behaviour training course is designed for health and care staff who may interact with people who exhibit behaviours that are seen as challenging as part of their caring duties. No prior knowledge is required to undertake this course.

Outcomes

Delegates will have the knowledge and skills necessary for health and care staff to be able to interact with people who may exhibit behaviours that challenge, in a manner that is safe for themselves and the service user.

Assessment

Assessment is by practical observation, Question and Answer, discussion groups led by tutor and a written test.

Qualification

Successful candidates will be presented with a certificate detailing areas covered.
